व्याख्या :
‘हनुमान’ शब्द ‘हनु+ मान’ से बना है ‘हनु’ शब्द के दो अर्थ हैं...
1.हनन करना
2. जबड़ा
इस तरह हनुमान शब्द के भी दो अर्थ हुए..
पहला - जिसने हनन कर लिया - अपने मान/ घमंड का (बहुब्रीहि समास)
दूसरा - हनु (जबड़ा) है जिसका मान ( कर्मधारय समास)
इसी प्रकार समास विग्रह का नियम है कि जहाँ बहुब्रीहि और कर्मधारय दोनों समास हों, वहाँ बहुब्रीहि को वरीयता दी जाती है।
