आनुवंशिकता के जनक
ग्रेगर जॉन मेंडल (20 जुलाई, 1822 – 6 जनवरी, 1884) एक जर्मन भाषी ऑस्ट्रियाई औगस्टेनियन पादरी एवं वैज्ञानिक थे। उन्हें आनुवांशिकी का जनक कहा जाता है। उन्होंने मटर के दानों पर प्रयोग कर आनुवांशिकी के नियम निर्धारित किए थे। उनके कार्यों की महत्ता बीसवीं शताब्दी तक नहीं पहचानी गई बाद में उन नियमों की पुनर्खोज ने उनका महत्व बताया।
