विश्व की सबसे बड़ी सोने की खान
त्पादन के लिहाज से दुनिया में सबसे बड़ी सोने की खदान उज्बेकिस्तान के मुरुंताउ में है. इस खदान की लंबाई करीब 3.35 किलोमीटर और चौड़ाई करीब 2.5 किलोमीटर है. इसकी गहराई 560 मीटर तक है. इस खदान से 2014 और 2015 में करीब 61 टन सोना निकाला गया. एक अनुमान के मुताबिक, इस खदान से अब भी 1700 लाख औंस सोना होने का अनुमान है. सोने के उत्पादन में इंडोनेशिया विश्व का दूसरा देश हैं. यहां पर सोना ग्रासबर्ग की खदान से निकाली जाती हैं. यह ओपन पिट माइन हैं. इसमें करीब 18 हजार लोग काम में लगे हुए हैं. इस खदान से 2015 में करीब 42.3 टन सोना निकाला गया.
सोने के उत्पादन में अमेरिका विश्व का तीसरा सबसे बड़ा देश हैं. यहां पर सोना गोल्डस्ट्राइक की खान से निकाला जाता है.
