मजिस्ट्रेट क्या है
जिला मजिस्ट्रेट या कलेक्टर जिले का मुख्य कार्यकारी, प्रशासनिक और राजस्व अधिकारी है। वह जिले में कार्य कर रहीं विभिन्न सरकारी एजेंसियों के मध्य आवश्यक समन्वय की स्थापना करता है।
आपराधिक मामलों के प्रभारी न्यायाधीश को मजिस्ट्रेट कहते हैं। भारत में मजिस्ट्रेट के विभिन्न प्रकार हैं। पुलिस के पास जाने के बजाय पीड़ित मजिस्ट्रेट के समक्ष शिकायत दर्ज करा सकता है। यदि पुलिस के पास पीड़ित पहले चला गया है फिर भी असंज्ञेय अपराध के मामलों में पुलिस इसे मजिस्ट्रेट को अग्रेषित करेगी। मजिस्ट्रेट को शिकायतकर्ता एवं गवाहों से पूछताछ करनी होगी।
