वाहित मल : म्यूनिसिपल अपशिष्ट जल अर्थात् नगर व शहरों में दैनिक कार्यों के बाद का बचा गन्दा जल, जिसमें मानव मल-मूत्र प्रमुख घटक होता है, वाहित मल कहलाता है।


वाहित मल प्रदुषण :


  • मानव मल की उपस्थिति के कारण यह अनेक प्रकार के रोगजनकों का स्रोत होता है। पीने के पानी की पाइप लाइन के सीवेज द्वारा संदूषित होने पर जल जन्यरोगों का खतरा रहता है।
  • खुला सीवेज रोगवाहकों के प्रजनन स्थल का कार्य करता है।
  • बिना उपचारित सीवेज के नदियों में छोड़ देने पर खतरनाक जल प्रदूषण होता है।
  • सीवेज के रूप में जल जैसे महत्वपूर्ण संसाधन का अपव्यय होता है।
